About Artist

Singer/songwriter, cartoonist, humor writer... Roy Schneider is a passionate and multifaceted storyteller, and his belief is that good stories are always rooted in truth. That said, a favorite quote from Mark Twain: “Get your facts first, and then you can distort 'em as much as you please.” Striking a balance somewhere between common truths, life experience, imagination, compassion and humor - with a touch of grit - Roy Schneider writes songs which ask to speak directly to the human being in each of us. From an ambitious middle-school rock star wannabe to a teenage runaway, to an underage union factory worker, to a traveling Deadhead, to a toy designer and computer jock, through the stifling rigidity of corporate America and back again, through national comic strip syndication, marriage, divorce, spiritual searches and years of single parenthood, this guy has stories to tell... And with nearly 25 years’ dedication to fingerstyle and flatpicked guitar, harmonica and vocals, there’s no more complete way for him to tell them than in song. To name just a handful of his many musical influences: David Crosby, Guy Clark, Arlo Guthrie, Darrell Scott, John Hiatt, Mississippi John Hurt, Tom Waits, John Sebastian, Bob Dylan, John Prine, Jerry Garcia, Robert Johnson, Leadbelly, Bob Marley, David Grisman, Tony Rice, Leo Kottke... Roy is based in Southwest Florida and carries many years' experience performing in festivals, house concerts, coffee shops, private events, restaurants and bars. His original music has earned him slots on national festival stages and has been played on syndicated radio show The Grateful Dead Hour and various public, mainstream, college and internet radio stations.
